Hello creative friends, it’s a hard topic today so be prepared! I’ve been on this for the past 5 weeks (yes, it’s a week late!) It’s been a lot to take in!
This page is based on Matthew 26:7 “a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table.” This verse is painful for me to read because I know that I would of reacted like the disciples who complained about the waste and how the money could of been given to the poor. (v9) YET, Jesus said leave her alone, she has done a beautiful thing. I want to do beautiful things for Jesus but I’m too busy doing things that I think are common sense! I can’t imagine how wonderful it would be to let go of control and pour out everything I have on Jesus. Such extravagant devotion!
My question for you today is, what’s in your alabaster jar? What are you holding onto too tightly? Are you willing to let go of it and give it to Jesus? As I type this I’m in the process of making a difficult decision. I face the possibility of losing something that I cherish very much which is time… Time by myself, time to work, time to get things done, time to travel. You know, that thing that us moms feel like we never have enough of? For me time feels like freedom, and that’s a huge sacrifice to make. The Lord is doing an amazing thing in my heart as I focus on being poured out to Him. It’s helping me prepare for this next season where I will need to be selfless like never before. The great news is that I have complete peace about it and no longer feel the need to argue with the Lord concerning this matter. He knows I can’t do what I think He’s asking, it’s all going to be in His strength. I’ve been so upset just thinking about the loss of time that I have failed to see what I will be gaining through this. I think this story will have a good ending so stay tuned!
