Cherry Blossom Stencil Wall Art

Step One: Use the stencil and a light pencil to trace your desired pattern on the wall. Turn the stencil over to have branches going in the opposite direction. This step can be skipped but I found it helpful in trying to figure out where I wanted my branches to go.

CherryBlossomStencil1StepTwo

Step Two: Align the stencil over the traced pattern and secure it with painters tape. Dip a dry stencil brush into the paint, applying a small amount of paint to the tip of the brush. Remove the excess paint by gently pouncing the brush on the palette. Your brush should only have a little paint on it. Apply brown paint to the branches by pouncing your brush up and down over the stencil. Repeat this process to cover all the branches in one direction. Once done, clean the stencil and flip it over to do the branches in the other direction.

CherryBlossomStencil1StepThree

Step Three: Align the stencil over the blossoms and tape it in place. Paint all the blossoms in this section with the lightest shade of blue.

CherryBlossomStencil1StepFour

Step Four: Stipple the next darker shade of blue paint onto all the petals. Once done, move the stencil and paint the rest of the blossoms that are in this direction, first with the light blue, then the darker one. Clean the stencil before flipping it over to do the other side.

CherryBlossomStencil1StepFive

Step Five: Once the paint is completely dry, erase all the visible pencil marks.

CherryBlossomStencil1StepSix

Step Six: Paint a small amount of the darkest blue on each blossom to add shading to the petals.
