Hello creative friends, it’s nice to have you here in my online home! I hope this post finds you well. The theme this month for the bible journaling printable is about drawing near to God and having intimacy with Him. I’ve been learning so much about this subject as I have worked on designing  this printable. There is so much more to drawing near then just drawing near! I’ve been specifically studying drawing near through faith, trust and obedience. Todays post is about getting close to God through faith.

The main verse that led me to choose this topic this month is the beginning part of James 4:8 which says “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” Like many others, I don’t have the second part memorized….”Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” Without the second part in mind I began to ask the question “how do I draw near to God?”

Hebrews 11:6 says “And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” To draw near I must believe and have faith. It makes sense to me. If you don’t believe that He exists and wants to reward you for seeking Him then why would you even bother?.

I know I’ve had times where I did not try to be close to the Lord because I didn’t have the faith to believe He wanted to be close to me. I had so much shame in my life that deep down I believed that God merely tolerated me. That kind of crazy thinking led me to believe that yes, Jesus died to save me BUT…He doesn’t actually want to be with me. Friends, you can’t get close to God if you believe this nonsense about yourself! You must believe and have faith that He really does want to be with you. Are there any parts of you that you hold back from God? Maybe He has 98% of you but what about the 2%? He wants it all, every part of you! Draw near to Him, every part of you, draw near to Him. Don’t hold back any of you and you will begin to feel closer to God. He’s right there beside you and if you can’t feel Him there it might be that you are trying to run or hide from Him.

it was a total disaster art wise but, my time with the Lord was precious. And, it turned out ok in the end. Everything went wrong. I had finished it and thought I needed just one more thing. I ended up washing off all the ink from the stickers I had printed off! I tried so many things to fix it but was making it worse. I even ripped the page while trying to remove the sticker! The whole fiasco was recorded and I decided I was going to publish it so you could see how things like this can happen to anybody. That video is not upload yet because I had HUGE technical difficulties. It seems that the more I figure out, the less I know! The more I fix, the more other things break down…but it’s all good, I’m learning perseverance!!!
