Enter His Rest Bible Journaling

Hello creative friends, how is your journey to learning about rest going? I’m discovering that there’s so much to learn! So far, I’ve been talking about rest for your soul and such but this week I’ve been convicted about resting from…work!!! That’s a hard one for me. There’s never enough hours in a day or days in a week for me to accomplish what I want to accomplish. Well, that’s the problem right there isn’t it? What I want to accomplish is not necessarily what God wants me to accomplish. There is enough time for me to do what He wants me to do. It’s the rest of it that hinders my rest.

Hebrews 4:9-10 says “There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works,  just as God did from his”

As I have studied rest this last week I’m realizing how crazy it is to say to God “No thanks Lord, I don’t need a day off. I’ll work seven days a week and burn myself out. I’m good thanks, I don’t want your gift…” Ok so obviously I don’t actually say that but my actions speak louder than words. God gave me this awesome day of rest but I’m too busy striving to enjoy it. Anyone else tired out there? Now that I’m seeing this problem I find myself craving that day of rest. I’m getting better at it and I feel better too. It’s amazing how making the decision to rest one day a week has lifted a lot of the overwhelm off of me. Last year I spent a week in Scotland. The pace of life there was so slow, at least out in the country where I was. There was no rush for anything. The internet was so bad I didn’t bother with it. It was so restful and I’ve never experienced anything like it. Every morning I went on a long walk and all I saw was rolling hills and sheep. Rest is possible friends. It’s out there waiting to be found and it’s in us waiting to be chosen. This week I’m choosing rest.

For this page I added some color with distress ink, traced the title on, added a few diecuts and journaled. Super quick and easy, helping me stay focused on spending time with the Lord without getting all stressed out about my page not looking like I want it to! I have a short video for you to see the process.

I hope you have a restful day no matter what you are doing!
