Hello creative friend!
This is week fifteen of twenty in my Freedom Friday posts on Identity in Christ. These blog posts are based on my I Am Journal and I hope you are joining me on this journey whether you own the journal or not.
Our truth topic today is: I am chosen!
Before time began, God was thinking of you. Before you were even conceived, God had great plans for you and loved you with His perfect love. He chose you, not because you were anything special but because of His love, mercy and grace, and that’s what makes you special. We are not chosen for our good works or for any of our accomplishments, no, this is not the tap on the shoulder that some of us crave. It’s all about Jesus and what He did for us. God chose you because of His great love and faithfulness. God chose you because He has a purpose in mind for your life, you didn’t earn it or deserve it.
I like to remind myself of this often. In fact, I choose to remember this every time that I’m not chosen by man. Many of us can remember being a kid and always being the last one picked for a team or worse, not picked at all. It’s easy to remember that but how often does it happen to us as adults? It use to sting quite a bit when I wasn’t chosen for different things. It use to make me feel so unqualified and just plain not good enough. I would be so disappointed and I would start to think that I’m just not cut out for whatever I was trying to achieve…and then God.
He would come and pick me up and remind me that He chose me and continues to do so every single day. He doesn’t regret His choice. He doesn’t wish that He hadn’t chosen me. He delights in me and opens the doors that need to be open, and closes the doors that need to be shut. If I only care about God choosing me, then it doesn’t matter when I get rejected by man.
To be chosen: having been selected as the best or most appropriate, one who is the object of choice or of divine favor : an elect person, selected or marked for favor or special privilege.
I use to believe the lie that God only loved me because He had no choice and that not loving me would go against His word and Character. In other words He “loved me” but didn’t like me much and was annoyed with me all the time. This is so ridiculous in light of the fact that He chose me knowing full well what I was going to be like. He knew every detail of my life and every sin I would ever commit when He made up His mind about me. He had a choice and still decided to adopt me, not because He felt sorry for me but out of genuine love. The idea that God was forced to love me and merely tolerated me makes no sense because He chose to adopt me. He had a choice and He did it with great pleasure because it’s what He wanted to do!
God is pleased with you my friend. He sees you through the filter of Jesus so He sees righteousness. He doesn’t regret choosing you. You are not an accident or a mistake even if your parents might of told you that. Tweet That!
“God is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With His love, He will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” (Zephaniah 3:17)
He picked you then, He picks you now and He will pick you forever.

Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. Ephesians 1:4
Here are biblical declarations that you can read out loud every day. Declare truth over yourself daily and you will soon believe it! I have included a free printable for you to use, enjoy it!

2- I am chosen by God as His special possession, that I may declare the praises of Him who called me out of darkness into His wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9)
3- I am chosen by God and have right standing with Him because of Jesus. (Romans 8:33)
4- As God’s chosen, I am holy and dearly loved so I clothe myself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
(Colossians 3:12)
5- God chooses me even though I’m not wise, powerful or of noble birth in the eyes of the world. God chooses me even though I’m not strong, or popular so that I can’t take credit for what He does. (1 Corinthians 1:26–29)
6- God chose me and appointed me so that I might go and bear lasting fruit and so that whatever I ask in Jesus’ name the Father will give me.
(John 15:16)
7- I am not an accident or a mistake, I am chosen by God. It’s what He wanted to do and it gave Him great pleasure.
8- God called me before I was formed in my mother’s womb, He has a plan for me.
9- I may be overlooked by the world but I am chosen by God.
10- God chose me because of His love, mercy and grace, not because of anything I could do.

That’s it for me today, I hope that your heart is believing the truth today that you are chosen. You are so loved and wanted…hand picked by God!
