Freedom Friday-I am Complete

Hello creative friend!
This is week two of twenty in my Freedom Friday posts on Identity in Christ. These blog posts are based on my I Am Journal and I hope you are joining me on this journey whether you own the journal or not. I’ve included a process video in this post and there is a gift for you at the end.
Our truth topic today is: I am complete in Him!

What does it mean to be complete in Christ? First lets look at the definition of the word complete: to have all the necessary or appropriate parts, to finish making or doing, to make something whole or perfect. For something to be complete it lacks nothing, it’s finished.

When studying Colossians 2 we can see different elements that we are complete in. First, let’s believe that we are completely saved. This may sound strange to some of you but it’s not uncommon for me to talk to people who know in their heads that they are saved but they have doubt in the hearts. There are also many Christians who live in fear of losing their salvation and spend all their time trying to work for it. Lastly, there are those who believe that they need to add things like human traditions and worldly principles in order to be saved. Through Jesus, your salvation is complete! It’s not Jesus plus this or Jesus plus that. Just Jesus! For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9) Since the biblical definition of salvation also denotes deliverance, well-being, health and healing we can add those to our list of what being complete in Christ means.

Colossians 2 also shows us that we have our complete identity in Christ. Before Jesus God’s people had to be circumcised in order to be identified as part of God’s family. In Jesus we are “circumcised,” but not by a physical procedure but by a spiritual circumcision–the cutting away of your sinful nature.. (Colossians 2:11) Through this, we are His and our complete identity is in Him!

Lastly, we have complete forgiveness. Do you remember the definition of complete? Something that is finished, whole, perfect and lacks nothing? You are completely forgiven my friend, not just a little, not half way, but completely. It is finished! “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1John 1:9
And “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:12 and “You have put all my sins behind your back.” Isaiah 38:17 and “You will tread our sins underfoot and hurl our iniquities into the depths of the sea.” Micah 7:19 and “I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more. Isaiah 43:25 and, and, and….are you getting the message? You have complete forgiveness!

You are enough my friend, through Him you are perfectly and completely enough. He is enough!

I leave you with the following quote from Ann Voskamp, author of One Thousand Gifts and The Broken Way.

You can give up the need to compete in the world when you accept being complete in Christ

Competing and comparing are probably the biggest culprits at making us feel like me don’t measure up. Make the choice today to stop doing it! Tweet that!
