Hello creative friend!
This is week eleven of twenty in my Freedom Friday posts on Identity in Christ. These blog posts are based on my I Am Journal and I hope you are joining me on this journey whether you own the journal or not.
Our truth topic today is: I am God’s workmanship!

To start off today’s post I want you to think about something that is perfect and skillfully created. I want you to imagine the creator working at it with love while thinking about how much joy he is getting from making it. Think about how the creator is creating with purpose and each is step is thought of, right down to the most intricate detail. Now picture yourself walking up to this creator and pointing out everything YOU THINK he did wrong, pointing out numerous flaws and telling him he should of done it differently. Can you image doing that? No, of course not yet that is exactly what we do every time we criticize ourselves. It’s like walking up to God and saying “hey, you did a crappy job when you made me”. It’s like Isaiah 29:16 that says,
“How foolish can you be? He is the Potter, and he is certainly greater than you, the clay! Should the created thing say of the one who made it, “He didn’t make me”? Does a jar ever say, “The potter who made me is stupid”?
Imagine how God feels when we constantly hate on ourselves in one way or another?
God made you with a high degree of skill and mastery. He used the highest level of creativity and ability. He saw what He had made and He said “it is good”. Tweet That!

The word workmanship describes the quality of what is made as well as the hard work and skill that went into it. God crafted you as a work of outstanding artistry which by the way is one of the definitions for masterpiece! You are skillfully crafted, made with extraordinary power and ability! You were made in God’s image so when you put yourself down, you put Him down.

This reminds me of why I don’t ever criticize my appearance. One day I overheard my teenage daughters talking about how it would be awful to have an identical twin because every time you said something bad about your appearance it would be like telling your twin that she is ugly. This got me thinking about the fact that everyone says that my oldest daughter looks exactly like me. I told her that every time she says something bad about how she looks, it’s like telling me that I am ugly. It goes both ways, how can I even think for a second that I am ugly when I’m told that I look exactly like my daughter who is gorgeous?!!
Do you get the point I’m trying to make? You are fearfully and wonderfully made in God’s image. You are HIS handiwork, a work of art! You are an expression of your maker and you are so valuable and beautiful.
You are uniquely made which means you are the only one of its kind, unlike anything else. You are exclusive, distinctive and custom made by the same God who created the universe!
“You are God’s masterpiece, a one of a kind, original work of outstanding artistry.”
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10
Here are biblical declarations that you can read out loud every day. Declare truth over yourself daily and you will soon believe it! I have included a free printable for you to use, enjoy it!
