Hello creative friend!
This is week seven of twenty in my Freedom Friday posts on Identity in Christ. These blog posts are based on my I Am Journal and I hope you are joining me on this journey whether you own the journal or not.
Our truth topic today is: I am holy and without blame!

Believing that I am holy and blameless to God is a difficult concept for me at times. I am well aware of my shortcomings and I am far from perfect. I desire to be just like Jesus but I miss the mark every single day. I may not be involved in so called big and horrible sins but I most certainly fall short of God’s glory like we all do. (Romans 3:23) I am thrilled to tell you that if you are like me and feel like you could never be holy and blameless, take heart, God already sees you that way through Jesus and He chose you a long long time ago to be just that. Ephesians 1:4 says, “He chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.” He didn’t chose you because you were perfect or you sinned less than others.
He chose you because of His love, mercy and grace. He chose you because you bring Him pleasure and you can display His light and glory in this dark world. Tweet that!
Friend, He chose you to be holy and blameless, it’s not anything you earned or deserve. Sounds like a gift to me! Now please hear me, this does not mean that you go on sinning. Nor does it mean that you keep negative destructive behavior patterns because well “that’s just the way I am”. No!! God may see you holy and blameless but He wants to heal you and make you whole. I can tell you from experience that when I have allowed myself to listen to the voice of condemnation, it was impossible to change and I was constantly trying to earn what God has already freely given to me. Now that I see how God sees me (most of the time) I can repent and ask for forgiveness and then move on instead of wallowing in self pity because I think that I’m never going to change. Honestly, that’s what happens when you can’t move passed your own sinfulness and you can’t see yourself as holy and blameless. You start practicing a form of religious self harm, beating yourself up for every little thing. You start to feel like God only loves you because He has to and maybe He merely tolerates you because you are His child. Well guess what, it’s a lie. The truth is He takes pleasure in you and loves to spend time with you. Imagine if your own child ignored you and couldn’t be with you because he or she was so ashamed of their wrongdoing and couldn’t accept that you forgave them? Imagine if your children lived like people who thought they didn’t deserve your love and walked around all day completely defeated? Friend, that’s how we are with God when we refuse to believe how He sees us. What are you believing about how God sees you? Are you living out of a place that believes that you are holy and blameless in His sight? Being blameless means that you are innocent of wrongdoing, guiltless, above reproach, perfect, pure, faultless and squeaky clean. With His life, Jesus paid the price to have His Father see you this way. Don’t throw this beautiful and incredible gift in the trash can. Instead, embrace it.
“… although God wants His people to be holy as He is holy, He does not deal with us according to the degree of our holiness but according to the abundance of His mercy. Honesty requires us to admit this.”
A.W. Tozer
Yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy and without blemish and blameless before Him. (Colossians 1:22)
