He Holds the Key

This painting was my entry for The Worship Studio’s

It didn’t get chosen but I am so pleased that I gave it my best shot!
The old me wouldn’t of tried…
The old me might of started but not finished this painting…
The old me might of finished the painting but not submitted it….
The old me would of told herself that she wasn’t good enough to even try…
The old me would of hidden this painting away…
But the new me painted this for Jesus!
And the new me painted this as an invitation to God to unlock my artist heart…
The new me is done comparing her work to others and feeling inferior…
The new me is going for it, with all I have!
Am I an amateur? Yes, absolutely! But I am learning, slowly teaching myself with
the help of on-line classes.

The key is a chipboard piece from Bazzill that I covered with antique pewter distress crackle paint from Ranger

These designs are made with a stencil and modeling paste. It was my first time using the paste and I loved it so much I got a bit carried away! For the hand, I sketched it on and then covered it with bits of “skin” taken from magazines…a little technique I learned from Jeanne Oliver during the Creatively Made Course. I then painted over top to blend it. The clouds are also modeling paste…I love that stuff!!!
