Hello creative friends and happy September! This month’s bible journaling printable is all about rest. When I say rest, I don’t mean sitting around and doing nothing. The rest I’m talking about is the kind where you stop striving and rest in the Lord!

My journey of learning to rest in the Lord has been a long one and I’m still learning. You see, I like to get things done. I also have believed a lie deep down in my heart. I didn’t know about this lie but it was there. The lie was that I have to work hard so God will approve of me. I knew the truth in my head but my heart was trying to earn God’s approval. He told me as much last January. Ouch!! I could tell you all about grace but had none for myself. Doing, doing, doing…all the time. And then He said “you know Marjolaine, I would love you the same even if you didn’t do any of these things”

Do you believe this friends? Do you believe that His love for you is not dependent on you or your good deeds? Trying to earn God’s approval is exhausting and steals your peace…it can also steal your health which has been a painful lesson for me this year. There comes a point when your body says enough and you have no choice but to slow down. That’s what’s been going on with me for almost two years. Just when I thought I was better I would overload myself and get sick again. It took being taken out 3 times before I learned my lesson. It’s not at all that I’m suppose to quit stuff and relax all day. Not at all. It’s an internal thing. It’s knowing deep in my heart that I can’t do anything in my own strength. It’s knowing that God loves me no matter what. It’s knowing that I can rest in His plan for me and not fret about missing my calling. It’s letting go of all the things that don’t matter. It’s a whole lot of peace.
Psalms 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God”. Are you striving friend? You don’t have to anymore. Let me know in the comments how I can pray for you.

Hiya Marjolaine,
I enjoyed reading your post, it really resonated with me! I also read the post by Deidre, who used the stencils in her Bible…..and having spent time looking at them I decided to buy a couple only to discover that you don’t ship to the UK!:-( I don’t suppose you would make an exception?
God Bless and thankyou for all you do!
