Hello creative friends! I hope you are well today. It’s already the end of the month which means a new printable is coming out soon! For my bible journaling page today I used the Rest in Him printable. This will be the last week where our creative team members and I will be promoting it. This in no way means that I’m all done learning about rest. On the contrary, it will continue for quite awhile especially since it’s my word for the year!

The passage I used was Exodus 33:14-15 where Moses is talking to God and it goes like this… And He said, “My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.” Then he said to Him, “If Your presence does not go with us, do not lead us up from here.
I love how Moses refuses to go anywhere unless God goes with Him. That is truly the cry of my heart as well. As the Psalmist said, “better is one day in Your courts then a thousand elsewhere. (Psalm 84:10) I want to be at rest in God’s presence all the time so why do I settle for less? Perhaps it’s that sometimes I feel unworthy to be near Him. Ashamed that I have sinned yet again. If only I would seek truth in those moments. The truth that as I come to Him in repentance He forgives me and washes me clean once again. I can rest in that. I want to rest in that. Perhaps another reason I settle for less is because a small part of me believes that God is somehow holding out on me so I try to do it on my own. Oh how foolish that is! Going ahead of God only brings chaos and stress to my life. I’d much rather hear God say “go, I’m coming with you” than “where are you and where are you going? I didn’t tell you to do that!” One of the things I notice from this passage is that there is rest in the going. God didn’t tell Moses to go rest on the couch and hang out with God there. Sure there’s time for that but other times the rest comes with the going.

In His presence I find rest. So simple, so profound. In His presence there is no striving, no running away and nothing done in my own strength. Just plain old rest…and trust…and faith… He’s got this. He knows what He’s doing. He actually doesn’t need me to control everything around me. He’s got my back. He’s with me always, even when I don’t acknowledge that He’s there.
I am praying for you. I’m praying that you will find rest in His sweet presence. There’s honestly no better place to be. If your rest includes “going” then I pray that you would know without any doubt that He goes with you. You are beautiful and the Father longs to be with you. Will you rest with Him?
Here’s a process video to show you how I did this page.
