Spring is in the Air!

Hello blogger friends!

It’s a beautiful autumn day here, perfect time for a spring canvas! Last week I had the pleasure to meet Kelly Panacci who is one of the designer’s at K & Company. We got to talking and she gave me one of her collections to play with. I couldn’t wait to dive in with all those beautiful papers and embellishments. She had also thrown in a set of her stamps by Hampton Art so I used that too. I plan on making a scrapbook related project but for now I just wanted to play with paint…more specifically, Gelatos from Faber-Castell!

For this canvas I used the Blossom collection.

I started by covering half the canvas with one of the Blossom paper.  I used decoupage medium under and over so I could add more layers easily.

Next I used blue Gelatos to make the sky, the canvas was previously gesso’d.

I sprayed the canvas with water and blended the Gelato with a paint brush. I used a baby wipe to remove the brush strokes.

I added a bit of texture by adding some butterflies to my background. With my stencil from The Crafters Workshop  down on the canvas I rubbed some Gelato on the surface of the stencil. I then used a baby wipe to rub the Gelato into the cracks.

At this point I got so into it that I forgot to take pictures…sorry!

Here are the next steps anyway,

I used a Big Brush pen from Faber-Castell to write the word fly all over the sky.
I used Kelly’s stamp randomly all over.
I applied some gesso with a stencil in a few areas.
I used decoupage medium to put the non 3D elements down on the canvas.
I arranged the 3D flowers and stuck them on with the adhesive already on the back.
I used some strips of white fabric to make the stems. To make them green I used Gelato and a splash of water. I use my fingers to rub the colour in.
I used some of the flourishes in the die-cut pack to make some leaves.

Well that’s about it, no special talent needed, you can do it too!

Thanks for stopping by, I would love to hear from you,
