Why Waste Wednesday

Hello blogging friends!

Today I want to share with you a layout that I made for this month’s sketch challenge at  Scrapping Everyday Miracles. This one was a true labor of love and if you had seen the process you would of thought I was crazy for not throwing it in the trash bin!  I’m so glad I persevered and finished it because I love how it turned out!  I won’t bore you with the details of all the many “cover-ups” there is on this page but lets just say that many messes were created in the making of this page. As you probably already know, I love mixed-media and my favourite scrapbooking artists include lots of it on their pages. For me, painting on pages is mostly new and very unlike painting on a canvas. So here I am, trying out some cool new things and having a great time doing it!

For this layout I used three 3×6 scraps of  acrylic paper, used a Crafters Workshop stencil and some gesso to create a nice textured background. For colour I used Dylusion sprays. My letters are old and didn’t match to I covered those in gesso. I also added gesso to my stars to add some texture. My flourishes were created with another stencil from The Crafters Workshop and modeling paste. I had added drops of distress ink to it but it wasn’t red enough for my liking so I topped it off with some ruby red stickles. And if you are wondering why there is ink on my son’s face well, lets just say that it was very late when I was doing this and I’m glad to live in a digital age where I can easily re-print the photos!

That’s it for today, it’s not too late to participate in the sketch challenge at Scrapping Everyday Miracles. Hope to see your entry there!
