Word Art

A few weeks ago I was led to a wonderful blog called Word Art Wednesday. Every week they post a new bible verse all ready to add to any project. I’ve been wanting to participate for a few weeks but I was finding it difficult to incorporate the specific verses to what I was scrapbooking. Since I’m not a card maker I decided I was going to practice art journaling. It doesn’t come naturally to me but I love doing it so I want to start putting more time and effort into it. I’m in the middle of taking an art journaling class and I can’t believe how easy it looks when they do it, for me, not so much!!! (but I will keep trying because I love the idea of it)

Image Transfer

I added dots of dimensional paint to my tree so it would have some fruit.

My trees and flowers are coloured and shaded with the Big Brush Pens.

I started it off by colouring my background with Gelatos from Faber Castell.

I used a baby wipe to blend the colour together. I find this smoother when I have gesso’d the watercolor paper first but I had skipped this step to get the rougher look.

For my trees I used the Big Brush Pens from Faber Castell with Claudine Hellmuth foam stamps.

Next I used a Crafters Workshop stencil with Gelato to add rain drops. After adding the colour, I rubbed it in with a baby wipe.

For this page I really wanted to do an image transfer. This is one of my favourite techniques. I love how it makes my image look like it was stamped. I began by inverting my image on photoshop.
To do this open the image in photoshop, click on IMAGE, then click on ROTATE CANVAS, followed by FLIP CANVAS HORIZONTAL. Once your image is flipped you can adhere it to your page with gel medium. Burnish it with a scrapper or credit card. Let dry completely.

Get the image wet and remove the paper by rubbing it off.

As you can see, the image transfer was at the top of the page. This one did not work out so I re-did it on the side. I don’t usually mind if parts of the image are missing but in this case I did. I really love this verse and wanted it to show up better. I ended up writing more of the verse on the page as my journaling.
